The DTS school is made up of two phases: the theoretical and the practical. The theoretical part lasts for a duration of three months within an environment of intense class activities, personal studies and devotionals, learning communication strategies, counseling, evangelism, companionship, and chores. The students are also frequently involved in working with the local churches through evangelism and other services. The practical phase is also a three month period in which the the student is exposed to “hands on” mission field work, whether it be in a local, national, or international area. In this phase the students have the opportunity to put into practice all that which they had learned previously in the theoretical phase and hence, work with assisting in ministerial duties while teaching and undergoing different transcultural realities.
